New Years Eve weekend my family took a quick vacation to Williamsburg. It was our first vacation together in two years! My family has visited Williamsburg the past two years, but Lauren and I were never able to go due to work and school schedules. We were glad they let us tag along this time ;) !
The weather was COLD but gorgeous!! Our first full day we enjoyed exploring historic downtown and then hit the outlets once it got dark! Day two we walked through some of the cute shops and then my sisters and I went ice skating. It was so fun!! I didn't think I would do well at all as I expected it to be harder than roller skating, but I'm proud to say I didn't fall once and managed to learn how to stop without breaking the wall!
It was so nice to get away with my family for a couple days during this time of year!!
Fall seems to have come late this year. I think part of it is that I live more in the "city" than I grew up with. From cow pastures to oceans. The weather is taking a roller coaster ride from 80s to 50s and back to 80s. I miss the crisp red, yellow, and brown leaves autumn brings, but if you look close enough they're not too hard to find even 20 minutes from the beach. I've always been bad at picking favorites, but I've finally decided that October through December is my favorite time of year. Nothing beats the happy holidays, cozy nights, and the foooood! It's the best, am I right? There's always a reason to smile during these months. October brings in a new season, November reminds us of how much we have to be thankful for, and December reminds us all over again. Giving thanks and giving gifts. Reminders of hope, peace, and the love of a Savior. Yes, there's always a reason to smile during these months.
