"Those were the good 'ole days."
You've heard it said a thousand times, probably said it yourself a couple hundred. You read through your old journals, watch an old show on TV, or look through pictures of days gone by and you think back to how good those times were. You see the laughter; the joy. Sometimes we forget about the importance of today so we zoom on by, hardly taking the time to put things into focus.
We get caught in a whirlwind we call everyday life. We strain hard and diligently for our future, we get lost in the busyness of the present, and every now and then we get nostalgic for the years behind us.
But life is so much more than that. It's more than being busy today to have a good future later; it's more than wishing we could go back in time when the days were good. We often forget, or don't even realize at all, that we are living in the good 'ole days right now. We will look back on these days, we will remember them, and most likely we will call them the good 'ole days.
Thinking about life that way kind of puts a different light on things, doesn't it? I'm not saying that we need to forget about our future or forget about our past. In fact, if I was saying that there would be no point in me being a photographer at all since one of the main reasons for pictures is to lock in memories. But there are moments when we need to put the future and the past behind us and just breathe in and realize that we're living the days we've been longing for.
It's time to make the most of it. We were given this specific time for a reason; God has a purpose for it. Remember that and live fully, love fully. Today.
