We've always been beach kind of people. Most summers we took a week (or more if we could) to lay by the pool, dive into the crisp, clear blue waters, and spend hours upon hours in the ocean. It's always been one of my family's favorite places to visit. Moving to the beach had seemed like a dream that would never come true. But God's plans always prove Him to be the God of "far more abundantly than all that we ask or think."* So here we are now 20 minutes away from the sand and sea with no plans of leaving. This led us to venture elsewhere for our summer vacation. (We briefly considered another beach). We decided to visit the mountains where we slept late, hiked long trails, ate lots of good, good food, twisted and turned through the Blue Ridge Parkway, and searched for waterfalls. Finding a waterfall turned out to be one of the main goals of our trip. The first one was quite a disappointment... a rock barely even wet. But on our last day we found waterfalls where water actually fell! They were all gorgeous. I think we'll always be ocean people at heart, but the views in the mountains can never disappoint.
